　　(一)名词性从句的译法1

　　1.主语从句

　　在翻译由what, whatever, whoever, that, when, where, how, whether 等引导的主语从句，一般仍按照原文句子结构的前后顺序。

　　whoever fulfills his task first will lend a helping hand to others.

　　无论谁先完成自己的工作，都要去帮助别人。

　　由it 做形式主语的从句，

　　it is a fact that the usa has sent its fleet to all parts of the world.

　　美国已经把舰队派往世界各地，这是事实。

　　2， 宾语从句

　　i have noticed that if you speak too slowly people may cut you off.

　　我注意到，如果你说得太慢，人们常会打断你。

　　有it 做形式宾语，

　　they consider it a great compliment that the president should visit them.

　　他们认为总统访问他们是莫大的荣幸。

　　3.表语从句

　　the question is whether we can finish our work by tomorrow evening.

　　问题在于我们能不能在明天晚上以前完成这项工作。

　　2.同位语从句

　　中间用冒号，或即来连接

　　we can not deny the fact the beijing , at the moment, is not as green a city as what we like it to be.

　　我们不能否认这个事实：北京目前并非一个让我们满意的绿色城市。

　　the scientists made an exciting discovering that this waste material could be turned into plastics.

　　科学家们有了一个令人振奋的发现，即可以把这种废物变成塑料。

　　(二)定语从句的译法

　　1.如果定语较短，可以放在被修饰词之前，中间加的。

　　they are the engineers that designed the new- type machine.

　　他们就是设计这种新式机器的工程师。

　　2.如果定语长，可以后置，译成并列分句。

　　the relations between china and the united states of american have been improved, which will contribute to world peace.

　　中美两国关系已经得到改善，这将有利于世界和平。

　　3.一些定语在意义上与主句有状语关系，说明原因，时间，地点，目的，让步等

　　electronic computers, which have many advantages, can not carry out creative work and replace man.

　　虽然计算机有很多优点，但是他们不能进行创造性工作，也代替不了人。

　　the young reporter wishes to write an article that will attract public attention to the matter.

　　这个年轻的记者想写一篇文章，以便引起公众的注意。

　　(三)状语从句

　　1.just as radar is to airplanes and ships, so eyes are to human body.

　　雷达对飞机和轮船就好像眼睛对于人的身体一样。

　　2.you can fly to london this evening providing you don?t mind changing planes in paris.

　　假如你不介意在巴黎换飞机的话，今天晚上你就可以飞往伦敦。
